Jennifer Woodlief, Author of Wall of White: The True Story of Heroism and Survival in the Face of a Deadly Avalanche (Atria, 2009)

 

Author Jennifer Woodlief will read at an LTCC Writers' Series event on Friday, February 26, at 7PM in the library. This event is free and open to the community. If you missed her at the Tahoe Writers Works "Celebration of Writers Around the Lake," now is your chance to her read from her compelling account of the 1982 avalanche at Alpine Meadows that claimed 7 lives and revealed the spirit of a mountain town and its people. Poets, writers, and storytellers check out the fabulous Karen Terrey’s Tangled Roots Creative Writing Workshop in Truckee.

New four-week sessions run:

·       February 8th - March 8th (no class 2/15)
·       March 22nd - April 12th

Reno

Artists, writers, and performers, check out BEtheCAUSE, a collective started by Reno writer Benjamin Arnold, to share art, music, and poetry--and spread their cause. Every 1st Saturday of the month inside Reno's West St. Market, BEtheCAUSE hosts an all-ages event that includes an art show, open mic, and poetry slam from 2pm to 5pm. It is always free, but donations are welcome -- each slam winner earns $50!

South Lake Tahoe

Tahoe Writers Works is back in session, starting Tuesday, January 12th. Workshops held every other Tuesday; submit work the week before. You can also just drop in for writerly camaraderie. 6:30, see website for directions. www.tahoewritersworks.com
