In 2009, she was chosen by the Nevada Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to work with award-winning children’s book author/illustrator Yuyi Morales in their Mentor Program. She worked closely with Ms. Morales writing, editing, and illustrating a picture book that was well received by the Simon and Schuster art director and editor participating in the program. By snapping photos while engaged in life, then manipulating those photos with apps during “down” moments, Arnold exemplifies the notion that art is not separate from life. He’s also putting his spin on “broadsides.” As Arnold puts it, “I just realized one day that my poetry and visual art wanted to play together.”
